商業連續性規劃可協助企業應對可能導致運營中斷的突發事件或特殊情況。 Doughty（2000年）指出，商業連續性規劃是企業整體策略中不可或缺的一環，涵蓋以下內容：

Business continuity planning helps your business respond to unexpected events and situations which can interrupt your operations. Doughty (2000) describes Business Continuity Planning as an essential element of business planning that can no longer be ignored, it includes:

為應對自然災害、意外情況、突發事件或危機，制定有效應對方案的規劃過程；

制定政策和程序，以應對與部署緊急行動相關的風險，解決不希望發生的問題和/或回應突發事件；

規劃如何在最短時間內恢復企業營運。

Planning for an effective response to a natural disaster, unexpected circumstance, sudden event or crisis.

Developing policies and procedures to embrace the risk associated with deploying emergency-based actions to remedy unwanted issues and/or in response to unanticipated incidents.

Planning for the resumption of business operations in the fastest possible timeframes.

什麼是商業連續性計劃？

商業連續性計劃是一份文件，用於說明企業在意外事件和情況「發生前、發生期間及發生後」應採取的各項行動。

其目的包括：

盡可能識別、預防或降低風險；
為無法控制的風險做好準備；
當事件或危機發生時，開展應對並實現恢復；
管理風險，並確保企業能繼續營運或成功恢復；

What is a Business Continuity Plan?

A business continuity plan is a document that explains the actions you should take before, during and after unexpected events and situations.

It is designed to help you:

identify, prevent or reduce risks where possible
prepare for risks that are out of your control
respond and recover if an incident or crisis occurs
manage the risks and ensure the business can continue trading or recover successfully
ensure the business and staff are resilient after the incident especially if staff are impacted mentally
enable you to bounce back after the incident and then bouncing forward
communicate your plan with key stakeholders

商業連續性標準有助於確保政策和程式的一致性，旨在提高經濟效率，並提升在國際舞台上的地位。健全的標準體系亦有助於當地社區建立更安全與可持續的環境（Standards Australia，2025年）。
