リスク管理

事業に関連するリスクを管理するには、事業に悪影響を及ぼす可能性のある要因を特定し検討した上で、特定した各リスクに対処するための最善な方法を選択することが求められます。リスクには、直接的または間接的なものと、内部的または外部的な要因があります。

事業全体のリスクを低減するために、適切な方針、手順、対策、行動を導入することが目的です。また、各事業主や経営者は、自らのリスク選好度を判断する必要があります。

Risk Management

Managing the risks associated with your business requires identifying and considering the things that may have an adverse effect on your business and choosing the best method of dealing with each of these identified risks. Risks may be direct or indirect, and internal or external.

The aim is to put in place the relevant policies, procedures, activities and actions to reduce the overall risk to your business. Each owner-manager must also determine their level of risk appetite

リスク選好度

リスク選好度とは、「組織が戦略目標を達成するために、進んで受け入れるリスクに対する意欲の程度と種類」と定義されます（リスク管理研究所　2024）。

Risk Appetite

Risk appetite can be defined as 'the amount and type of risk that an organisation is willing to take in order to meet their strategic objectives’. (Institute of Risk Management 2024)

組織のリスク選好度は、その属する業種、文化、目的によって異なります。また、リスクごとに幅広い選好度が存在し、時間の経過とともに変化する場合もあります。例えば、政府機関のような厳しく規制された組織は、リスクを回避する傾向がある一方、先端的な製造業やソフトウェア開発のスタートアップ企業は、意思決定や行動においてより高いレベルのリスクを受け入れる傾向があります。

リスク選好度の意味は人によって異なりますが、適切に伝達された相応しいリスク選好度の声明は、組織がリスク管理目標を達成する上で大きく貢献します。

Organisations will have different risk appetites depending on their sector, culture and objectives. A range of appetites exist for different risks and these may change over time. For example, highly regulated organisations like government agencies are likely to be risk averse, whereas, advanced manufacturing or software development start-ups may be more inclined to embrace higher levels of risk in their decision and action.

While risk appetite will always mean different things to different people, a properly communicated, appropriate risk appetite statement can actively help organisations to achieve their risk management goals.
